Here are some places where you can still recreate!

We thought we would share some places that are still open for you to enjoy the great outdoors in southwest Oregon.


Many public lands are closed for your safety and the safety of wildland firefighters as they work to suppress the fires in southwest Oregon.Know before you go (see tab on this blog for closures)

Brown Mountain

Brown Mountain Trail is a 5.6 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Butte Falls, Oregon that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

 

Lake of the Woods

Rocky Point Resort is located on the peaceful Upper Klamath Lake amid gigantic Ponderosa pine trees. The resort is located 30 minutes from Klamath Falls, Oregon, and one hour from Medford, Oregon, and is open from April 1 through November 1. It adjacent to Rocky Point Day Use Area/Boat Launch.

The resort offers a variety of accommodations including five tent camping sites, 24 RV sites, and five cabins, many with serene lake views. There is also a restaurant and general store on the property to make this a full-service resort in a natural and rustic setting.

For recreation, Rocky Point Resort features access to excellent fishing, boating and bird watching opportunities. At the resort’s boat launch you can glide into the Upper Klamath Canoe Trail with a rented canoe, kayak, paddle boat, or small motor boat. Rentals are available by the hour, half-day or full day.

Fish Lake

This picturesque campground is in the midst of old-growth forest, adjacent to Fish Lake, offering some of the best fishing in the area. A boat launch for Fish Lake (speed limit 10 mph) is located within the campground, and many amenities are offered at nearby Fish Lake Resort (open weekends in the off-season, and full-time after Memorial Day). Numerous hiking trails are within easy access, including the Fish Lake, High Lakes, Brown Mountain, and the famous Pacific Crest trail, as well as the Sky Lakes Wilderness and Mt. McLaughlin trail systems.

Additional campgrounds nearby include; Fish Lake Resort and the adjacent Doe Point and North Fork Campgrounds. Willow Prairie Horse Camp, Whiskey Springs and Fourbit Ford Campgrounds are several miles away, off County Road 821.
